Johnny Cupcakes Tour @ Kamp

Last night Kendra and I took some friends to the Johnny Cupcakes suitcase tour at Kamp Grizzly.  My friend Kevin works at Kamp and he invited us.  I have to admit, before Kevin invited us to this event, I really didn’t have any idea who Johnny Cupcakes was or what he did.  I assumed he baked some delicious cakes, in cups…  I was wrong.

Johnny Cupcakes is an internationally known clothing brand.  The guy is a marketing genius, when he designs a shirt he only makes so many of that design.  Once those shirts sell out, thats it, he will never sell the same shirt twice.  The appeal is the exclusivity of the brand, like I said, brilliant marketing.

For the event, Kamp brought in one of their friends to build a custom cupcake cannon.  This thing was awesome, they gave everyone that wanted to a chance to be shot with a cupcake in the face.  While all of this was going on, the guys from Kamp were filming the impact of the cake with a super slow-motion video camera.  The girls you see in the background of the above photo work for Red Bull, they stopped by to hand out free samples and to get blasted in the face with cupcakes.

We had a blast, ate some cupcakes from St. Cupcake and met some cool people.  Thanks again to Kevin for inviting us.  If we had hung out a little longer we could have seen Kevin getting pelted with about 20 cupcakes, photographic proof via twitter.com/chemistryofcool -
